Authentic Masala Tea Recipe: Indian Masala Chai

Masala chai is an aromatic beverage , prepared by Brewing Black Tea with milk, sugar and other spices. It is a very popular beverage in Southeast Asia , especially in India.

Here follow Steps to make authentic Indian Masala chai ;

• Take some water in a pan { for every 2 cup of tea ,1/2 cup of water is needed }.

• Add sundried tea leaves or tea powder of any good brand .

• Now add below mentioned spices to the solution and heat it at low flame ,so that the solution became rich by aroma and taste of all mixed spices and herbs. Spices can be used as a powder as well as in its intact form.

[ NOTE : All below mentioned spices and herbs can be added but it’s not necessary to put all of them to make chai ,you can add spices according to your taste but first four are compulsory for Indian Masala Chai.]

~ Ginger ( fresh / powdered form)

~ Black Pepper

~ Cinnamon

~ Green Cardamom

~ Cloves

~ Fennel

~ Nutmeg

~ Star Anise

~ Fresh Basil leaves ( Tulsi leaves)

~ Bay leaf

• After boiling spices in Black Tea for once. Now it’s time to add Milk in it .The quantity of milk depends upon personal taste and kind of milk used .An ideal ratio of milk : water can range from 1:1 to 3:1.

• Let this mixture boil for atleast 10 to 15 minutes. This will make tea more aromatic and flavourful.

• After sometime of boiling add any form of sweetner in it according to your taste.

• Boil it for 2 min and your Aromatic, flavourful Indian Masala Chai is ready to be served .

Strain the mixture in cup with help of strainer and enjoy your evening or morning tea with your loved ones .
